Day of protest: speaking out for decent pay, jobs and services in local government

We support our fellow UNISON Branches across the UK will be organising protests, stunts and rallies at lunchtime and outside work hours, working jointly with GMB and Unite.  This is a day of protest – it is not industrial action.  The wide range of activities on the day will highlight the dire state of local government pay and the disastrous impact of cuts on local jobs and services.

In England, Wales and Northern Ireland, activities will include getting members to write to their councillors and MPs, and send postcards to the LGA and WLGA asking them to respond to the pay claim.  Maximum pressure needs to be applied before the Local Government Employers meet on 13 February to agree their response to the NJC pay claim.
