Won’t higher wages lead to more redundancies as forces recoup the money by laying off probation staff?

Employers will always claim that higher pay will lead to more job cuts. Some of the CRCs are already in consultation with UNISON over job cuts as they try to cut costs to deliver the profits that they have been promised from Transforming Rehabilitation. Taking action over pay will not make these cuts any more likely.
