Journalist shot dead

A 63-year-old journalist was killed in the Southern province of Caqueta on Saturday 14th February. Luis Peralta Cuéllar who ran a radio program was known for his journalism denouncing irregularities and had received threats in the past.

Last year, another journalist Luis Carlos Cervantes, well known for investigating political corruption in the region of Antioquia was shot dead shortly after state authorities removed his protection measures.

A recent report detailed 184 incidents of persecution against journalists in 2014.
