Threats and attacks against thirteen union activists

The oil workers’ union, USO, one of the most threatened in Colombia, has revealed that in recent weeks thirteen of its activists have received threats or have been attacked. The incidents took place across the country.

The treasurer of the union, David Mauricio Gomez, was threatened by the paramilitary groups the Gaitanist Self-Defence Forces whilst ten more were sent threats from unknown sources.

Two more union activists, Oscar Garcia and Rodolfo valentine Prada, were attacked by gunmen in the cities of Tame and Cartagena.
