There’s no living standards crisis for UK’s bankers, says TUC

Commenting on the European Banking Association figures published on Friday which show that the UK has Europe’s best paid bankers, TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady said:

“Britain’s bankers are not suffering a cost of living crisis. The economic crash has led to the longest decline in living standards since the nineteenth century for ordinary people. Yet the bankers who caused it get richer every year.

“The British people cannot understand why the Chancellor is still stoutly defending soaraway banker pay in Brussels. Rebalancing the economy has turned into the bankers getting richer while millions of ordinary people wonder whether they will be able to pay their energy bills.”
