Competition will undermine care and increase costs, GPs warn

Putting NHS services out tender will severely affect and undermine the continuity of patient care, according to GPs.

London GP Amer Salim called for CCGs (clinical commissioning groups) to have freedom to commission services in order to best meet patients’ needs and said that the AQP (any qualified provider) policy was unnecessarily complex and costly to introduce, maintain and regulate.
