Using your vote

Why are you asking me to vote for both strike action and action short of strike action?

UNISON needs to keep all our options open in planning the most effective industrial action to bring the employers back to the negotiating table.

Strike action is a concerted stoppage of work, and can be for any duration, from an hour (or less) to indefinite action.

Action short of strike action is where probation staff carry on working but take some action in the workplace such as taking their normal breaks, not working overtime or refusing to do particular duties. It could include a ban on short notice changes to shift start times, or short notice requirements to work on a day not originally rostered.

UNISON believes that a combination of strike action (duration to be agreed) and action short of strike action will be most effective in bringing the employers back to the negotiating table. Vote yes for both options.

This is your opportunity to make your voice heard.
