UNISON comments on the King’s Fund report

Commenting on the King’s Fund report on the government’s NHS reforms, UNISON head of health Christina McAnea said:

“The findings are hardly surprising. We warned the government that the NHS reforms would damage and scar the health service at unprecedented levels but ministers went ahead regardless.

“By implementing these reforms, ministers showed they were determined to put profits before patients. Billions of pounds were wasted. This government has failed the NHS and failed patients.

“Ministers have had four years to drop their ill-thought out health policies but they have not. Now with the NHS the issue the uppermost in voters’ minds, the government is likely to pay a heavy price at the general election.”
