Help expose the austerity lies and myths

Ahead of the chancellor’s autumn statement next week PCS is supporting 2 events which call for austerity to end.

On 3 December, George Osborne is giving his autumn statement where he’s set to triumph the success of austerity and announce further cuts and privatisation. But the reality is austerity has been hugely damaging for millions of people and falling incomes – real earnings fell by 1.6% in the past year – are fuelling the deficit. But the government remains committed to policies which help a privileged few.

Anti-cuts group the People’s Assembly is organising 2 events to highlight how the government’s cuts agenda has failed:

  • An economic briefing on Thursday (27 November) Austerity lies and myths: what the government doesn’t want you to know. It features a panel of leading economists, journalists and trade unionists for discussion and debate on the true state of the economy and the lies underpinning the government’s austerity programme.
    Register your place.

Details: 6.30pm, NUT headquarters, Hamilton House, Maybledon Place, London WC1H 9BS.

  • An austerity has failed: Sack George Osborne protest outside Downing Street from 5.30pm on 2 December.
Join hundreds of people who will be showing what austerity really is. Help tell the truth about the damage of the budget before Osborne makes his excuses.
